What is Drawberry for?

The service was created to connect people all over the world wanting to have paintings made from their photos to professional artists who can do the job in a variety of genres, styles and media. Drawberry is different from other services of this kind, as here artists compete for customers, which means you get great quality for a lower price.

What kind of photos can I send in to get my painting?

Photos that have clear detail work best for ordering a painting. If you are requesting a portrait, be sure to send in a photo where you like the way you look (or where the photo subject looks good). If the photo isn’t very flattering, you should not expect the artist to change that when making the painting, as the artist may simply not understand what sort of a result you expect.

What image file sizes and formats are accepted?

You can upload images in any one of these formats: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif and the file size can be up to 8Mb

What kind of painting can I order?

You can get a fully customized painting from Drawberry.com! Select the medium (oil, charcoal, watercolor, pencil, pastel, acrylic, ink), specify a style if you like (Picasso, Van Gogh, Da Vinci, etc.), choose the painting size and whether you would like the artist to sign it. You can also communicate with the artist directly to discuss other details or to voice any special requests.

Will I be able to select a background for my painting?

Yes you will! You can select one of several solid color backgrounds, choose to keep the photo’s original background or have the artist choose a background for you.

Can I make special requests for how I want my painting to turn out?

Yes! Communication is key to getting the result you are happy with. You can list your special requests in the comment box when submitting the order, and also communicate them directly to the artist prior to them starting to work on your painting.

Will I be able to preview my painting before it is shipped to me?

Definitely! The artist will submit a photo of your painting when it is done. You will then have the option to approve it and have it shipped to you, to request modifications or to decline the work, in which case you can restart the order and have other artists place bids once again.

Do I have to prepay for my order?

You will need to prepay 20% of the price quoted by the artist you selected. This deposit is non-refundable, except for situations when the artist does not complete the work or submits work of unacceptable quality (painting done of a different photo, in a different medium or otherwise against the original requirements specified in the order).

When the work is done and approved by you, you will pay the balance, so the artist can get the painting shipped to you.

What if I don’t like the painting?

If you are not happy with the artwork the artist uploaded for preview, you have the option to request modifications or decline the work entirely, in which case you’ll be able to restart the order and collect new bids. You would probably agree that this is a situation neither you nor artists would want to be in. To help prevent this from happening and to ensure you get the result you expect, try to be as specific as possible when creating your order and describing the painting you want. If you end up requesting modifications, describe what you are not happy about in as much detail as you can, and use even more detail to describe the changes you want made.

How do I choose an artist to do my painting?

You can pay attention to the price artists quote when they submit their bids, but that probably shouldn’t be the main factor to influence your decision. We recommend that you view artists’ profiles, their work portfolios and pick the artist whose style and manner appeal to you the most. This way there is a better chance that you will love the end result and get a piece of artwork you will truly cherish.

How do I know the status of my order?

You can check your order status anytime by logging in to your Drawberry account. You will also receive notifications via email every time the order status changes, such as when you receive bids, when your painting is done, etc.

How fast will I receive my painting?

This depends on a number of factors and artists normally quote order delivery times when submitting their bids. You may judge about the actual shipping time by how far your selected artist lives from your location and the kind of shipping method they use to send your painting to you. The artist will let you know the estimated arrival time and provide a package tracking number if one is available.

How safe is my private information with you?

We take user privacy very seriously and use very strict security measures throughout the Drawberry system. Any personal information you provide when using the Drawberry service is stored on secure servers and never shared with any third parties. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

How can I pay for my order?

You can pay for your order via PayPal. To do that, log in to your Drawberry account and specify the email address linked to your PayPal account. Now go to the order page and click the ‘Pay via PayPal’ button on the right. Follow the instructions.

Paying via PayPal is as easy as paying with your debit card, but even more secure. If you don’t have a PayPal account, don’t worry - you’ll need just a couple of minutes to set one up. Read our guide here.

What kind of painting can a customer order?

Customers may order fully customized paintings from Drawberry.com! They can select the medium (oil, charcoal, watercolor, pencil, pastel, acrylic, ink), specify a style (Picasso, Van Gogh, Da Vinci, etc.), choose the painting size and whether it should be signed by the artist. All these requirements are specified by the customer on the order form, but you can also communicate with them directly to discuss any other details.

Can the customer only buy traditional art or is print art also acceptable?

Drawberry allows ordering both traditional and digital paintings. Traditional art orders should be painted on canvas, digital art should be printed on canvas unless something else is specified by the customer in their order.

As an artist, would I have to pay a fee to work with Drawberry? Is there a fee to sign up?

There is no fee to sign up or work with Drawberry.

Can I upload some samples of my work so people can see what my style is?

The system allows artists to upload multiple files with their work samples to their personal gallery/portfolio. This is an important step in completing your profile, as it will help customers pick you to do their painting.

What image file sizes and formats are accepted?

You can upload images in any one of these formats: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif and the file size can be up to 8Mb

How is shipping handled? Who pays the shipping?

Shipping is to be handled by the artist and the shipping fee is to be paid from the order total you quote to the customer. Please keep this in mind when putting together your bid for an order you like.

Do we have to frame the artwork or will customers commission unframed work?

If the customer does not specify it in their order, you can ask for clarifications by sending a private message to the customer. You may also specify in your bid whether your price is for a framed or unframed painting.

How is Drawberry compensated?

Right now Drawberry is keeping a 10% commission from each order to cover PayPal fees.

Is Drawberry something like commissions that we can choose to do?

Exactly! There are customer orders in the system that you can browse through and choose from.

What if my customer doesn’t like the finished product?

All artists are required to submit a preview photo of the painting when it is done. Then the customer has three options: to approve the work and have you ship it, to request modifications or to decline the work. If your painting is declined, but you believe you completed it exactly to the customer’s specifications, you may contact our moderators and request arbitration.

Do I need to sign the painting?

It depends on the order. The customer can choose whether they want the painting signed or not.

Is there a deposit that may cover my expenses in case the customer declines the work.

Yes. 20% of your bid is a deposit that the customer pays upfront. This deposit is held by Drawberry and is released to you except for situations when the work is not completed at all or its quality is unacceptable (painting done of a different photo, in a different medium or otherwise against the original requirements specified in the order). As long as you follow the order requirements and do your best, but the customer declines your painting because they simply don’t like it for some reason, you will still receive 20% of your bid total to cover your expenses and effort.

How fast do I need to complete and ship the painting?

The timing is up to you. Once you see the order, you determine how long it might take for you to complete it and specify the number of days in your bid. That will be your deadline and you will not be able to change it after your bid is accepted. Note that the countdown will start right after the customer accepts your bid and transfers the deposit. You need to watch for notifications in your mailbox or check your Drawberry account online after submitting a bid, so that you don’t miss this.

Is there a limit on the number of my work samples I can upload?

No, there are no limits. You can upload as many pictures as you wish.

How can I get paid? What would I need for that?

You’ll need a PayPal business account to receive your payments.

Using PayPal is just as easy as using a debit card, but it offers better security at the same time. If you don’t have a PayPal account, don’t worry - you’ll need just two minutes to set one up. Read our guide here.
