Don Castillo

Before I tell you about myself, Let me make it perfectly clear, I only paint and draw digitally on a computer, they are not actually paint but looks exactly like a painting with out the texture, everything printed on very high quality Ink that lasts years. Anything ordered will take about 21 days to arrive. . . . . (more often in the 3 week range). 11''x 17'' is the print size on museum quality paper also available on a gloss or mat finish. Canvas Sizes may differ slightly to specs by a few inches more or less, thank you and God Bless. . . . A glance at Don Castillos drawings will tell you two things- he is a skilled artist, and he is knowledgeable about ART and, martial arts. The San Antonio native, who now calls Clanton, Alabama his home, has developed a love affair with "Digital drawing and digital art." (my specialty). But perhaps what is most unique about his style is that he incorporates his interest in karate into his creations., and another thing- Don Castillo holds a black belt in karate; hence the moniker, The Martial ARTist. While Don carries around a sketch pad and pencil, most of his finished works involve tools that are a bit more modern, an electronic pen and drawing tablet connected to a computer. There is much more to digital drawing than just pointing and clicking. The work Don does is freehand, and the electronic equipment he uses is sensitive to pressure. Just like a pencil, the width and darkness of the line depends upon the pressure applied. A digital palette of colors allows him to freehand as well, blending different colors to create new colors. From a very young age, Don Castillo has wanted to draw. In junior high, art was his favorite subject. He collected comic books and tried to draw the superheros, and has now even made his own comic book character, The Karate Whisperer Don Castillo exposure to the martial arts paralleled his interest in drawing. At age 12, his father started him in karate. He competed in more than 150 tournaments around Texas and earned his first degree black belt at age 18. He had a third degree black belt at age 25. For about 12 years, Don had his own Self Defense School in San Antonio, Texas named, Don Lees Jeet Kune Do. (Lee is his middle name). Perhaps it was inevitable that Dons two passions would collide. He started doing portraits of famous martial arts figures and posting them on Facebook. This led to a comic strip Tales of the Karate Whisperer, Now he is working on a comic book called, The Karate Whisper, and also has this comic book on He is an author of over 15 books currently on many also available on kindle. Don also has a tee shirt line for sale through his Facebook page.
