Dale Arnold Lewis


Dale Lewis is a British artist and illustrator who studied at Bristol University of the West of England and the University of Wales. He gained a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in 2001 and has produced many illustrations for soft furnishing companies in the UK. He moved to Wales in 2001 where he was inspired by the rugged North Wales coastline and natural mountainous beauty of Snowdonia national park. As a lover of the great outdoors he finds immense pleasure in hiking through the mountains and countryside, capturing the picturesque scenes with sketches and photographs. He moved to China in 2004 to become an English teacher and has lived there ever since. He now teaches Western Contemporary Arts & Design Culture and Media Studies at Sun-Yat-Sen University in Zhuhai. He organizes evening and weekend art classes for his students and arranges visits to the local galleries in a bid to inspire his students and introduce them to leading European and American contemporary artists and designers as well as encouraging the students to understand more about Western arts and design history, it's important development and worldwide influences. His inspiration derives from a variety of art movements from the works of the Eastern European and Italian Futurists, the Cubists, European Impressionism, the Expressionists of the 19th and early 20th centuries and of course contermporary modern art of the 21st century. He works using a bright vivid palette of colors and a mixture of traditional and unique painting methods. He enjoys experimenting with new techniques. He's currently working on a series of paintings with a view to organizing an exhibition called Everything is Broken Up and Dances'. He hopes to open his exhibition for public viewing in the Autumn of 2015 in Guangzhou, mainland China and Hong Kong in 2016.
